Main visa types
This is general guidance — the details depend on your situation. We confirm the exact requirements in your consultation.
- Over 90 daysStudent visa (estancia por estudios)For stays longer than 90 days on a language school, international school or university course
- Guardians & accompanying familyIf the parents go too, they get their own visa (non-lucrative residence, digital nomad, etc.) and the child applies as a family member under that visa. If the child goes alone, the child applies for a student visa (parental consent required). It depends on your situation, so we decide in the consultation
- Up to 90 daysShort stayFor short courses, camps or experiences of 90 days or less
- Changing or extending your visaWhen you want to stay on in Spain or your purpose changes
Insurance for your visa
A Spanish visa requires a certificate of health insurance covering your entire stay. For a student visa it must cover at least €30,000 in medical costs plus repatriation; for non-lucrative residence and digital nomad visas it must match the coverage of the Spanish public health system (with no co-payments).

Visa FAQ
The questions we're asked most often before a consultation.
Is the visa different for children and for adults?
Even with the same student visa, preparation differs: for children it depends on age, school system and whether a guardian comes along; for adults it depends on purpose and length of stay.
Can my child get a student visa while I stay as a tourist?
It's possible for a short time, but depending on the length of stay and repeated entries and exits it's often not realistic. Reviewing it beforehand is important.
Can I switch to a student visa in Spain after a short stay?
It depends on the type of school, your current status and the timing. In many cases you have to leave and apply again from abroad.
Is visa preparation different for a language course and for an international school?
Yes. The admission documents, purpose of stay and timeline are different.
I'm already living in Spain. Can I extend my visa?
It depends on your current status, its type and its duration. Without checking in advance, the risk is high.
Does Nara Education apply for the visa on my behalf?
We're not a visa application agency — we're consultants who assess which visa fits you and map out the route. If you prepare the documents yourself, you can build your application on NARADocs (launching soon) by answering questions.
Can I get a consultation about the visa only?
Yes. That said, we recommend reviewing it as part of your whole plan, including school, stay and housing.
